“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” - Joshua 1:8

Everyone wants to be successful, but what does that actually look like? According to the world, success can be measured by money, possessions, popularity, or achievement. But as far as God is concerned, true success is accomplishing His will for our lives. And this type of success is completely unattainable apart from a love for the Word of God and a commitment to obeying it.

Joshua was faced with a seemingly impossible task and had some big shoes to fill - picking up where Moses left off and leading the children of Israel into the Promised Land. He was understandably fearful, but God encouraged Him with the promise of His presence and His power. Then God told Him just exactly how he would be able to successfully accomplish this task - by reading, meditating upon, and obeying God’s Word.

Do you want to be successful? Spend time in God’s Word. Make it your priority to hear from God every day. Meditate on the truths you discover as you read. You will find that these truths will be precisely what you need as you face the day ahead of you. Then be sure to apply these truths in your daily life. Don’t just read what it says, do what it says! (James 1:22-25)

No matter the task, you can go forward with confidence. You have the same promises God made to Joshua. Be strong and courageous! Just be faithful to God and His Word. He will take care of the rest.
